Nuclear Medicine

We look forward to providing you with a new enhanced level of bone imaging. We are also keen to partner with you to determine how we can give you better clinical information.

Our Siemens Intevo xSPECT system is one of the first 3rd generation scanners in Australia. The high resolution bone images will astound you! We have also introduced quantitative bone imaging which provides a much better way of following bone disease over time. GMI will be the only private practice in Australia using this technology which enables us to directly measure the amount of tracer uptake in any location (as shown in the image). This gives readings in SUV similar to PET scans. The clinical utility of this is promising and early results from around the world are showing a quantum leap in accuracy and reproducibility of bone scans in oncology.

MRI–3T system

We hope to boost your diagnostic confidence with Kevin using our Siemens 3 Tesla Skyra system which is the absolute state–of the–art in digital MRI. As many of you know, Kevin has extensive experience and profound interest in body MRI. He is keen to push this technology to the limits of diagnosis to ensure the results are tailored specifically for you and your patients’ particular requirements. Kevin will utilise advanced diagnostic tools, such as whole body diffusion imaging, which involves no ionising radiation and is proven to be less expensive and time consuming than PET and bone scan. It is an excellent tool in both diagnosis and assessment of treatment response.

CT scan

Our Aquilion Prime 160 slice CT scanner provides rapid and high–resolution images producing detailed information during multiple stages of contrast enhancement. This allows Kevin to deliver a report that provides you with the answers you need at the lowest possible x–ray dose for the patient (it can reduce current doses by up to 75%). It has a wide (780mm) bore, which will help access for obese and ill patients.

How we support Oncology

Bone Densitometry and Whole Body Composition Analysis

We can perform DEXA bone densitometry for all ages and all regions. We can use and convert all prior measurements from all manufacturers in long–term analysis. We can do whole body BMD, vertebral body assessment, periprosthetic / assessment for orthopaedics, whole body composition and fat/ lean mass assessments.
