We’re proud to support the Netball ACT State League as the new Naming Rights Partner.
For us, this is much more than a logo on a uniform. It’s a chance to stand alongside the thousands of players, families and volunteers who make netball one of Canberra’s most loved sports. What excites us most is simple: watching athletes thrive, seeing the community come together, and being there for the moments that matter most — from breakout performances to tough injury comebacks.
Netball is one of the region’s biggest participation sports — thousands of players and families across the ACT, week in and week out — and we’re proud to get behind it. The GMI State League brings together the region’s best netballers, coaches, umpires and officials. It’s fast, it’s fiercely contested, and it’s built on the same things we care about: performance, community, and looking after people along the way.
Why we’re sponsoring the Netball ACT State League
At Garran Medical Imaging, people are at the heart of who we are, so partnering with Netball ACT was a natural fit.
Netball is a game of quick changes of direction, sharp stops and hard landings. It asks a lot of the body, and injuries to ankles, knees and soft tissue are part of the sport at every level. That’s an area we know well, and supporting athletes, from weekend players to those on the elite pathway, is exactly what we’re here to do.
The standard of imaging and care usually reserved for elite programs is available for the whole netball community. And we think injury management deserves to be taken seriously at every level. When it is, players and families can compete with confidence and stay in the game for longer.
“Partnering with Netball ACT was important to us because it directly supports our mission of serving the Canberra community,” says GMI General Manager Shane Robinson. “It aligns with our focus on elite sport, musculoskeletal health and community wellbeing, and it lets us invest in one of the ACT’s largest and most vibrant sporting communities.”
Netball ACT Chief Executive Officer Katrina Roff welcomed the partnership as a strong fit on values. “Their commitment to supporting local sport and community wellbeing aligns strongly with our own,” she said.
What it means for players and families
Behind the partnership, the difference shows up in real moments for the players, and for the families who support them.
For players, it comes down to certainty, speed and safety:
- Faster answers — advanced imaging helps get a clear picture quickly, so there’s less time in limbo and away from the game.
- Better injury management — accurate imaging supports the right treatment plan and safer return-to-play decisions.
- Confidence — knowing there’s a trusted imaging partner close by takes some of the worry out of an injury.
Families often carry the emotional and logistical load when an athlete is injured. The parents rearranging their week, the worry on the drive home, the questions no one quite knows how to ask. This partnership helps lighten that load:
- Less stress — a calm, comfortable experience with clear communication at every step.
- Faster care — strong relationships with referring doctors mean less time navigating the system and more time supporting recovery.
- Local trust — the same care and expertise Canberra’s specialists and elite athletes rely on.
An injured player is rarely dealing with just one person. There’s usually a GP, a physio, sometimes a specialist. We see ourselves as one part of that team, making sure the imaging is fast and clear so everyone around the athlete can help get them back on court safely.
Looking ahead
This partnership is still in its early chapters, and that’s what excites us most.
For us, medical imaging is just the start. As this partnership grows, we want to play a wider role in the community’s health and wellbeing, supporting athletes not only when they’re injured, but in staying fit and staying involved.
We’re looking forward to supporting these athletes, their families and the wider Canberra netball community for a long time to come.
Because that’s what this is really about. Advanced medical imaging that puts you first, on the court, and off it.
